And fun, too – the San Francisco Giants have invited Litchfield to throw out the first pitch at some of their games as a tribute to his many charitable contributions in the Bay Area.

His expertise as an effective mediator was forged through real-life drama and highly publicized legal work. Fresh out of USF Law School, Litchfield witnessed firsthand the 1982 "100 Year Storm" that ravaged, submerged, and damaged many parts of his native Marin County. Litchfield, representing the owners of a completely demolished home in Novato, was one of the first attorneys to convince the Appellate Courts to confirm the existence of insurance coverage for loss due to catastrophic natural disaster. Four years later, in a landmark case, Litchfield represented the family of a crew member of the fishing vessel, Jack Jr, which was crushed by a tanker, the S/S Golden Gate, off the coast of Point Reyes, resulting in the tragic loss of three lives. Charles Litchfield, Esq.

Quick on the uptake and keen on his feet, Charles Litchfield has a sharp eye for detail and brings a strong work ethic to his practice of law. Charles first gained familiarity with the Marin Superior Court through an externship there after his second year of law school. He gained valuable experience writing memos for several judges and making recommendations on summary judgments and various other motions. He has since visited the court numerous times on the other side of the bench and feels at home in the courtroom.

During his tenure as a law student at the USC Gould School of Law, Charles served as the Executive Editor of the Southern California Law Review and wrote an article on healthcare reform that was published in a recent issue and can be viewed here. After graduating near the top of his class at USC, Charles returned to the Bay Area to start the Litchfield Law Group with his father, Perry D. Litchfield.

Charles is a Patent Agent registered with the USPTO and has experience in trust litigation, personal injury claims, real estate transactions and litigation, land use permits, trademark application, and contract disputes, among others. Read More...
